Harvesting Spaghetti Squash
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:39 »
Hi all

Do you know when is the right time to harvest spaghettis squash (colour, size, etc)?

We have lots of beautiful yellow spaghetti squash on our plant but  never having grown them before I don't know when I'm meant to harvets them!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

If they are yellow and sound hollow when you tap them, they are ready.

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

Or you can wait until the leaves die back. When you cut them cut the stem leaving about 2-3",they store extremely well, store in a cool area and check regularly but they can last to Christmas if you have lots and you can resist them that long!
