I prefer the straight in the ground method myself, But now I grow in pots on gravel, because my green house is on a concrete base.

I really can't get on with growbags they dry out to fast in my opinion.

Hope this helps

Hi,
ring culture is probably the best way. I would never use grow bags as they are very difficult to keep properly watered (they are either too wet or dry out quickly) I plant mine in large pots simply because I can't be bothered to replace the soil in my greenhouse borders.

use growbags but dont lay em flat  stand them on the bottom long edge  and cut tyhe slits in the top edge  put 2 in  this allows the compost to be deeper  and also holds more water  . to water toms effectivly i always use a 2 ltr lemondae bottle every other day on each tom . hope this helps
still alive /............

I grow in large pots, using compost out of growbags. Each pot is stood in a washing up bowl, (raid your pound shop), and watering is done via the bowl.

I find this method helps the neighbours if we go on hols!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

last year I used large pots in the green house and growbags outside, but this year I have take out an area of turf to put them straight in the ground outside, as the growbags were a pain to keep moist..

That is something you can never make allowances for!

My best toms last year were the ones outside on the plot. Got watered & side shooted every now & then, otherwise nature took care of them!
