I have found varying advice.  Some places it says one quince is fine.  Others say you get better fruiting with two.

I have a single Vranja quince at home and it produces loads of fruit in a good year.  They can have 'off' years when you get nothing, but I've only had a couple of them.

It gets kept pretty compact, but is a really pretty tree and the quinces are lovely

I think one Quince is enough as they fruit well on their own (they are self-fertile). My Quince tree always has lots of fruit and I have not seen other Quince trees in the surrounding area.

I dont have a tree but have benefitted from my pals tree.  Lots of quince jam.  They have loads in Turkey called ayva recalali.  Beautiful but have to say mine was better,,lol.  So I may look to a tree how long do you reckon before it shows fruit?

I had one Meech's Prolific (hah - talk about badly named!) and while it flowered beautifully every year here in Edinburgh, it rarely set fruit. I eventually put it down to years of bad pruning on my part but I often wondered why so many of the blossoms never set. I no longer have it as I took it up after ten years of no fruit.

There was one of the Japonica ornamental quinces over the road which may have contributed pollen but  no other true quinces that I was aware of.

I have a gamboa quince that is now about 12 years old and is grown against a south facing fence. It is self fertile has a lot of flowers, but the fruit set is poor. If I was staying at the same house I would plant a companion to see if it improved cropping, rather than grub it out.
