Home To My Chicks (photos added)
« on: April 23, 2011, 21:36 »
I have been France for 5 days and travel home tomorrow evening to my chicks, they will be 3 1/2 weeks old. I am dreading noticing the difference between the girls and boys. I know it is possibly still too early to tell but I think it proves that I'm not cut out for new chicks and maybe in future I will buy only sexed chicks. We were never going to name them until we knew, but within an hour and a half they were all named. Sorry, just having a chicken mummy moment.

Don't worry, I had a beautiful cockerel called florence! His girlfriend was called Emily (little britian).

Here are my babies, approaching 4 weeks, do you think the dark one (MO) with the larger comb is a boy?

They are darling!  So healthy and pretty!  That one has a big tail.  Straight up too!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Morning, The chicks are lovely.  Do you leave them outside now at that age or just in the day.  It looks like they have a lovely area to fourage in.  Just wondering as I have some chicks nearing four weeks and they do get to the stage where inside is a bit much for them and me, the smell is one thing but you then worry as they get larger about the amount of space they have indoors.

Many thanks. x

Chickway i have started a thread called preparing chicks for outside world if you want to read that, there are some good replies on there. Squiggly is on there and has chicks just a bit younger that ours, i find it nice to compare how they are getting on
