I was going to sow some Japanese anemone ( Anemone hupehensis var. japonica ) but I've noticed that the packet says "poisonous"
Does anyone know how poisonous they are? There are dogs, chickens & fairly sensible children using the garden. If its a matter of eating a whole plant causes mild stomach upset I'll go ahead but not if they're going to kill us all off! Thanks, Windy.

I don't know how poisonous they are, but the basic pink variety will take over your garden if the conditions are suitable.  We've been digging up clumps for years now, and they always come back!

TOXIC ONLY IF LARGE QUANTITIES EATEN. CAUSES SEVERE PAIN IN THE MOUTH IF EATEN! Poisonous through ingestion and dermatitis. (Poisonous parts: All parts when fresh). If you bit into something that hurt your mouth you'd spit it out PDQ neither people or animals are stupid enough to carry on eating  or swallowing. I mean foxgloves are poisonous but do people really go around tasting everything in their garden

I meant plants like nasturtium, which is edible, but children should be supervised in the garden.
