Potato Problem
« on: July 25, 2011, 09:56 »
Hi,

I have researched potato blight but cannot be sure if I have succumb - please can anyone help:

If so - shall I remove all unnafected foliage too? They are all in quite close proximity  :(

Thanks

Wes

Remove all affected foliage as soon as you spot these symptoms and burn the leaves.  There is no requirement to remove unaffected leaves, or not until they too succumb.    Cheers,  8)  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Don't think it's blight.

There's a lot of "blackleg" about this year, I have some and the plants have gone like that.

What are the stems like?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Not blight. My money would be on magnesium defficiency. The affected areas are between the veins on the leaves. This is the same as the yellowing between the veins on tomatoes.

Thanks folks - funnily enough I had a spot of black leg a couple of weeks ago (saw it on Beechgrove Garden and then spotted on my allotment) but never though on! The crops on the affected plants have been so poor though. Have added the haulms onto the fire heap for tonight!

Thanks folks

Wes
