hi ya  :) i would like to grow some courgettes , but do not wish to pay £1-75......£2 a plant, >:( is it to late to so some seed s of my own , ..........pete

I think your ok, Sow indoors, in March–May, into an 8 cm (3 inch) pot

Sow asap and keep them somewhere warm till they show.....airing cupboard/propagator would be ideal - but move as soon as you can see them  ;)

I sowed some yesterday and the ones I started the week before have all hatched.  :lol:

Mine were in sunny spot on windowsill under a cloche and this new batch are in the same spot in a clear plastic bag. I think they need a bit of warmth to germinate.

They seem to grow overnight. Very satisfying!

Still loads of time. You can grow by direct sowing seed in June so no rush. Try ebay for seed .. great prices.
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

I always split my planting 50% in March and 50% end May/June so I get a longer cropping time.  The later planting catch up by the end of August anyway.  I would say definitely go for it.
