Title: hatching eggs
Post by: Jo57 on May 04, 2012, 14:16
Remind me...just received eggs in post. I know to leave them 24 hours to settle but have read somewhere which way up to have them settling but can't remember which way.

Pointed end down and let them settle at room temperature for 24 hours.   :)

Thank you.  All sorted and settling. Hoping I get better than 1/6 this time but was worth it anyway!

Unless you are after something specific and unusual I would do your best to find someone localish and pick them up personally - much better hatching rates.

I got 5 out of 6 hatched that were sent recorded delivery.  The only one that didn't hatch was the lightest weight egg and it developed to about day 9.  I think it must help if they are good breeding stock and collected/stored fresh and dispatched asap.
