1st march every year without fail, straight in the ground fantastic onions every year using sturon sets.  :D

A partly similar story, as far as I know. Sets seem to be treated with the same timings. This is the first year I'm doing seeds of them, it says sow in April in situ. Sounds interesting. :unsure:

Shallots are a bit more hardy and can go in earlier. Mine go in in February - errrm - that's tomorrow!

I did not dare to say, but I vaguely think some here do them as per onion seed on the shortest day.

Looks to me you are working from the calander DD not when you want to ha ha. Mine went in today by the way hope the weather holds up for you the forcast is not very good for the next few days.
