Title: Gooseberries - no fruit
Post by: theplotbegins on June 14, 2018, 07:01
Last autumn I planted two gooseberry bushes from the sale/rescue stand at the garden centre. They were small and a bit twiggy looking but alive.

This year they have put on lots of lush new growth and look very happy but neither bush (they are different types) has produced flowers so no fruit.

They are in a raised bed. Not pruned.

Any ideas?

They can just spend the first year growing and settling in.  If they look happy and are putting on leafy growth, it should mean fruit next year, but I think its too late for this year now.

Thank you. I'll leave well alone and keep my fingers crossed for next year.
