"Barrier" Louse powder for mites
« on: September 22, 2008, 14:46 »
I've been using Barrier louse powder for mite prevention on my girls. Someone mentioned that while using the powder you shouldn't eat the eggs as it could be harmful. Has anyone any ideas on this.

I've never used louse powder for mites, but doesn't it say anything on the container about an egg withdrawal period?

I've been using barrier mite powder on my girls and when I was in the shop the louse powder was right next to it, I nearly bought both till i looked at the ingredients and realised they are the same thing!!! my tub says nothing about egg withdrawel, I know they do have to state on the packaging if you cant eat eggs during treatment though.

Barriers unique formulation of Louse Powder contains a safe-carrier that does not cause carcinogenic effects. Designed to be applied directly to all animals it is suitable for use in organic farming systems, as it falls into the exempt category of products which use only plant oils as active ingredients. Barrier Animal Healthcare's Louse Powder can be applied to most animals and poultry, even young stock over 2 weeks old. It can be used on both Sucking and Biting Lice. It works at repelling the Lice over a six week period.
