Just been on Met office website and for this area it says there maybe a risk of ground frost in rural areas . I am not in a rural area so do you think it will be safe to leave them as it's getting dark now too 

Oh fling some fleece or an old sheet over them and keep your fingers crossed - someone has to make up their mind

Ma - its getting late - if frost is only hitting rural (maybe) then you'll probably get away with it.

If not and your squash get ruined -   I'm guessing that you won't be holidaying in North Devon next year, and any info. I've given about the location of my allotment was a lie, so you'll never find me....

I think it should be ok and then tomorrow I will set about harvesting them. What happens to them if the frost gets them anyway? Do they go all mushy

As all the foliage had died down, I harvested mine today and will leave  them by the window of my shed to cure. They will get some sunshine there. 17 kilos altogether. Well pleased!

Alan I've been keeping my head down after another incident on the plot. I won't bore you with the details but it upset me. I hold my hands up for the lack of diary content and will be duly reprimanded for that. We have also been catching up on the garden as it has been somewhat neglected but all is in order now

As long as you and Pa are OK that's the main thing .....

I look forward to a catch up and pictures on your diary especially as you have been doing a lot of work down there. At the end of the day you now have a plot at the end of your gated you can walk too and you have been actively working. Ignore who ever is giving a hear time, there is always one or two like that on every site.

We have made lots of changes on our new plot and the top part is looking good. Still have lots to do but have to wait for the veg that the previous owners have on there to be removed before we can get stuck in. At least we got a few months to sort it now.
