Here's a puzzle for you.

We hatched 3 black hens & a cockerel a couple of years ago, they had the araucana strain in them and laid blue eggs almost daily. Sadly, we suddenly lost one a few weeks ago so now just have the 2 blue egg layers, all the others lay various shades of brown. Here's the puzzle.....everyday for the past week we have been getting 3 blue eggs a day! Do you think maybe the ghost of the one we lost has come back to lay?

are you sure one of the other hens doesn't have any araucana in them? What breed are they?

speckaldies, RIR, bluebelle, wynandotte, pekin and silkie. The first time it happened I wasn't surprised as I know they some times overlap, but everyday this week we've had 3 blue ones and I'm really baffled.

No, my wife is as puzzled as I am. Only had 1 blue today though so maybe they're back to normal.

And strangely we're back to 3 blue eggs a day from the 2 blue egg laying hens :blink:
