They are just different. The name turnip doesn’t really describe them. If you want a turnip go for purple top milans. If you want something to go in your peanut butter sarni choose oasis  :)

I grow them under cover so dont have caterpillar problems. Ants can be a problem but it has  only ever been cosmetic.

Just picked up a pack of 'oasis turnip' seeds, anybody tried them? Apparentely can be eaten raw like an apple or grated so they taste like melon, interesting  :unsure:

We tried these several years ago, never again. I am back to purple top milans and that is where i will stay from now on.  :D

Agree with you about milans BQ. Pulled the 1st of the spring sowings yesterday - had forgotten how wonderful fresh turnip smells! Also grown some goldina - pulled 1st one today. Milder turnip taste than the milan but the greens are much less 'bitter'. Going to sow both for autumn.
