Peony
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:47 »
Back in December we bought a fabulous Peony root from the floating flower market when we called into Amsterdam, along with some huge Amaryllis bulbs.

Just checked the greenhouse where I'd left the Peony in a large tub potted up with peat to protect it over winter as there's no heat in there. There are three very thick shoots just popping through, so thinking to slow it down will move it to its permanent quarters this week and cover shoots with plenty of compost ?

The trouble with that is, if they are planted deeply they don't flower, so a mulch is counterproductive. Have you got some fleece you can cover it with, instead of the mulch?

Plan 'B' it is .... Fleece covering to keep frost off, cheers.
