Couldn't find the thread so here is my frame.  Sorry it's sideways.  :D

{Edit by John - popped a rotated image up as nearly broke the monitor holding it on the side}

I love growing, but I also love building things.   :lol:  I have the most constructed plot on the site.   8) 8)  Not sure if it is a good thing or not!

Love it! I was planning on going The Full Munty this year but time beat me so just a simple cane frame with wires for the beans to climb.
I'm also guilty of being the sites resident builder, always got my mind on the next project ;)

If I get the time I'm going to see if it will stand up to the winds we get here. Ordinary supports won't for sure.

I could be very wind resistant if you add some wind braces to the structure so creating triangles.

Is this one of those runner bean things that was mentioned on here a months or so ago. How exactly do they grow up that?

Much prefer the look of a traditional cane setup that has served me for many years.
Must be a nightmare to take down and reassemble each year.

You'd be suprised lettice, it's so much easier to pick the beans when they're dangling down over you head. Worth the extra construction time!

It's all fun and games until the weight snaps the cross member  :mad:  If I had to build one again I'd do it using tube clamps and 1.5" galvanized tube excluding it from the rotation. Sometimes you just have to scratch that fabricobbling itch  :lol:

My husband is the same. Sometimes I daren't ask him to net anything because out comes the drill and the 2x2 and he's off building the Taj Mahal ! I tell him things don't have to be so well constructed, but he reminds me of the devastation  hurricane Charlie did ( twenty odd years ago !!!!!) and that if a jobs worth doing.... :D

Ha ha, me too.  I have a fence around my plot that will withstand an earthquake never mind a hurricane.  Everything has to be square and level or it is ripped apart and started again.

That's a good idea!
Now if I use carbon fibre and titanium, anchoring into the bedrock I may well be OK :)

Add some ropes as for tents (guy/guide sp?) . Made with stout posts should be good to go I’d have thought
