I know we've had this discussion about planting shop-bought garlic. But does the same apply to shallots?

Reason I ask is that there seems to be a major shortage locally and I had to order some from Dobies. Tried Woollies, garden centres, the lot.

just a thought have you tried your local willkinsons (willko`s)  they have loads in down here ,
cant comment about supermarket produce as i`ve never tried growing anything from it..

Nearest Wilko's is Kingston on Thames. I had to buy my cat litter trays for my leek seeds off the interwebthingy.

You can do, all the same as you can save bulbs of your crop for seed, just like with garlic.
