result - local garden centre has logs for a couple of quid so i'll be getting some in at the weekend.  happy days.  now then, what's the chance the plugs will actually work??  will i get my oyster mushroom risotto before Christmas?

Good luck with the logs,we have had a couple of goes but got nowhere.As for chard and perpetual,definatly worth planting after your broard beans then you should get at least one crop(depending how big you like your leaves)before it slows for winter and even then you should be able to get a fair crop until about now when it becomes a job to keep up and I only have a 4 foot row each of perpetual sp.,bordeaux sp and chard.I will sow some more perp. in april as the autumn sowing starts to fade/flower.I will also sow some more bordeaux and try to get a crop before it bolts(hope over experience)
