Fellow gardeners,

My wife bought a sweet potato a couple of months ago and I was surprised that it cost so much. On the packet it said to be grown when the risk of frost was gone. I was not very keen on growing it bought thought I would please her. So the other day I looked up on the Internet to find the space needed and was then surprised to find out that you don't just put it in the ground like a potato but have to place it in water and then plant the shoots the potato produces.
My question is this: is there still time left to get the shoots growing and plant them in the garden or I have it left it too late? I could plant them in my son's greenhouse if that would help speed up the process!

Any thoughts  on this subject would be welcome.

I think it is too late for this year, they do take a long while to get going.

I started mine off about mid feb and have about 9/10 slips big enough to use, gonna snip `em off and plant in small pots tommorrow, then, once rooted they`ll be going into 35L buckets cos all the polytunnel beds are full.
