Spuds won't cook?

Spuds won't cook?

I've grew a small number of King Edwards as a main crop this year and I now have them stored in a hessian sack in the garage but they won't boil of steam they just fall to nothing. Can anyone advise me why and was it something I did?

My potatoes seem to turn out a bit like that as well, for all varieties I've tried. They're just about OK if I keep a close eye on them when boiling but parboiled and roasted they're fantastic. All the falling apart edges turn into crunch!

Try using them for jacket potatoes, that way you contain the potato within the skin or boil/steam them with the skins on, same effect. :)

Does anyone know why it happens, though? I don't think it can be just down to the variety. Is it lack of watering? Leaving them in the ground too long? Soil type?

It has happened an awful lot this year, some have suggested that it's to do with the erratic weather we had earlier in the year.

I don't know if that's why, but the spuds I've got are falling to bits when cooked or just solid too.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
