Shallots
« on: June 01, 2013, 22:35 »
I noticed today that our shallots have turned yellow at the tips of their leaves.  They were sown as sets on 3 March and have grown well.  Would this be the start of their yellowing before harvest or is it too early and they need fertiliser or something else instead? I am not sure what to do

It does sound rather early.

I'd give them a high nitrogen feed e.g. chicken pellets, epsom salts.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for your help Yorkie  :) I fed them today and gave them a good watering.  So fingers crossed they'll be ok at harvest time.
