Having watched a TV thing on how they breed for batteries, I wonder if there was some sales patter economy with the truth :)

Whatever - congratulations on your new pals

Yes - i did pay for them (Expensive too)   £12 per bird.   The lady is an agent who had taken a large delivery and they are for the commercial trade..  I knew this in advance as I had been phoning around the country trying to get a couple of these birds - so i was aware of the situation before I arrived (not prepared for the tugging of my heart strings when i actually saw hundreds of them tho'

Thanks, Sorrell.  Just makes you wonder how much the farmers would pay for them from her??  Still, at least they will have a better life than being stuffed in a cage or an overcrowded barn!

Happy times with the egg output.

Well done. Forget about the money. You don't expect people involved in the vile battery industry to be straight anyway. I don't like to sound sentimental but I get angry when hunters and anglers are called cruel when many of the most inhumane practices are found in intensive farming and food production.

I hope you enjoy your new birds as much as they enjoy their new life.

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but were they for egg laying or meat?  I've never heard of battery farms having Bovan goldlines for egg laying, usually just the hybrids, Warrens etc.  Or Cobbs if its for meat production.

Does seem a lot of money though.  Our friends who have a free range egg farm only pay a couple of quid, but like I said, they are for hybrids.
