I have been growing potatoes in a half barrel at the plot but now they are ready to come out I've realised I have no plans for the barrel until next year, any suggestions very welcome

You could replant with salad leaves or oriental greens. They grow so quickly, re-used compost is fine

Just to point out these two options are alternatives - don't grow carrots where you've manured!

hi thanks for the suggestions, is it too late to sow a courgette? I already have a bed for salad leaves and have carrots growing but I suppose I could have more

I've grown Kestrel spuds in an old wheelbarrow and, after lifting the crop, sowed turnip seeds. I always try to get two crops from each bit of space I have and it normally works.

My black bins now have carrots in, they look like they are doing well too.
