Removal of Oxalis and wild onion
« on: November 10, 2019, 16:47 »
Hi all, I have moved to a new house and I am more or less starting the garden from scratch.  I have left the garden alone (apart from cutting grass and building a pond for OH koi) so that I can concentrate on renovating the house and learn what the growing conditions in the garden are like.  So far I have discovered the garden is infested with Oxalis and wild onion (I thought initially it was wild garlic but the leaves are more like wild onion).  I have just been out and dug out as much of the Oxalis and onion as I can from what appears to be a flower bed.  The onion appears to have self seeded as well as there being bulbs and bulbuls.  If I keep howing off the leaves when they appear in the bed will I eventually kill the Oxalis and onion off or should I kind of do a stale bed and let them come up and dig them out?  Also will repeatedly mowing the grass kill them off in the grass or do I need to dig them out of that as well?
