bees
« on: November 11, 2010, 23:25 »
Earlier this year I started a new plot. Whilst digging over for the first time I came across a bee nest. It is alongside a path so is not in the way, but unfortunatley I partly dug it up. There were only about a dozen bees that came and went. They were not overly large one,s - def not bumble bees. Can they recover from the damage I did and is there anything I can do to help them.

If possible, put back a bit of the dirt and just leave them. They'll sort it out for themselves. You might want to put some sort of marker nearby so they don't get dug up again. There are many types of non-honey bees that need protecting and this is the best way.

Cheers Trillium. I've already done as you suggested. Just have to wait for next season and hope for the best.

They'll be fine, you've done the right thing.  They soon 'mend' their nest.
