Good morning everyone,     I should like to give bees a home in our garden, not to collect honey but to let them pollinate our veggies.  Does anyone have plans for such a (simple) structure?

We had a structure constructed in our allotment car park.  It is about 18" - 2' square and abut 4-5 high on 4 legs which were sunk into the ground.  It has 2? 3? shelves, the lowest one being perhaps 2' - 2.5' off the ground, and walls around 3 sides from the lowest shelf to the roof, which is corrugated (I think) material that slopes downwards towards the back.  The rest is made out of wood.

The empty shelf areas can be filled each year with bamboo or other similar prunings.

I'll try to remember to take a piccie when I go down to the site tomorrow.  It was installed via the council allotments officer a few years ago now, so no idea on the plans.

Bee update.   I built a bar top hive from 'scrap wood' although it was top notch, went and collected my swarm (got three stings) and had the pleasure yesterday of watching my first workers returning to the hive with their trouser pockets stuffed with pollen.  More update, I've just seen comb being constructed through the inspection hatch.
