Title: Chard

There is lots of new growth on the chard, so I thought I would add some to our pasta.

Had trouble finding some whole leaves, and cursed the slugs for staying active through the mild winter.

Rinsed them briefly and set them to soakin a bowl of water. OH came in to start washing up while I was making the sauce for the pasta......and found this! :tongue2:

How has this survived the winter? Just to prove it was still very much alive......

It did a lovely poo! Yeuch!

When I looked at the chard it was covered. :ohmy: Binned it.  :(

Could have been worse --- could have been half a caterpillar  :tongue2:

A friend of mine grew lots of cauli for the freezer. She expected dinner guests who loved cauli so she thawed and cooked a batch for them. Picture her embarrassment when a still live green looper crawled out from between the clusters and across one guest's plate   :lol:

Don't know how these pests do it, but they do. Yuk!

nasty isnt it , had the same thing with calabrese, checked it over thoroughly removed any i could see, washed it and let it soak for 20 mins and then steamed it.
served most of it up and when i went to remove the last of it from the pan after eating there was about 6 caterpillars in the pan  :wacko:

soak it in salty salty water, they don't like that at all  :lol:
