Garden centres are exempt this time.  We've just been to a small one near us, combined with grocery shopping.  It was a delight to wander round looking at plants, treated myself to some sweet peas seeds.

It would seem that the government has finally realised the benefits of gardening to our mental health and  has allowed garden centres to stay open. I just hope people only go when necessary and not use them as a day out.

If shops automatically refuse entry to anyone without a mask then they will be guilty of disability discrimination.  As the legislation recognises, there are some people who, for medical reasons, are unable to use a face covering of any sort. 

Yes, there will be some people who are just playing the rules by not wearing a mask and claiming medical excuse. But there will be others who genuinely cannot. Most of these medical reasons will be related to what are known as 'hidden' disabilities. To make assumptions about anyone is to judge.  Perhaps we need to be kinder to each other.

Are garden centres in Wales open?

We've got one near us that is open but please consider if you really have to go out. It looks like we're getting the infection rates down in Wales but they can go up again awfully fast.
Going onto masks - I'm afraid we've little tolerance for the 'can't be bothered' and 'too good for the rules' brigades. It doesn't seem unreasonable to sympathetically ask people to provide some proof or good reason as to why they can't wear a mask. And shops that serve non-wearers are putting profit ahead of the lives of their staff and other customers. We should treat those who don't behave properly in the same way as we do drunk drivers who put the lives of others at risk.
Had to laugh at a woman who complained the 'police ambushed her' after she drove to a beauty spot with her child and the terrible police 'made her feel like a criminal' just for breaking the law. Strangely she didn't seem to get much sympathy from Walesonline readers.

There's a lot of bouncers out of work at the moment - they're used to enforcing a dress code and denying entrance to undesirables. Semi serious suggestion.

John and others i really  find your replies really make sense of all this I haven't got ant time whatsoever from those who hide behind disability discrimination tale and tell that to those who have lost love ones to this pandemic because those who don't wear a mask or face shield are guilty of possibly spreading this covid to those  most at risk there just so selfish B?

in my opinion on the spot fines £200 second offence £400 + put on the criminal register and anyone giving abuse to shop staff should be arrested and banged up for the day or night because these people are taking the ? and there just sticking two fingers up at those who are in the front line of all this like the NHS who are doing there best to save lives together with all the other front line workers

if you caused any disruption in the pub you where quickly ejected head first of the premises with a size 10 up your jack and told don't come back till you can behave your self

we have relations in Wales and its very bad down there although they where strict in enforcing the rules they have really suffered through this covid and i wish them all the luck in the world to beat this deadly virus asap

and now we have people coming in from other parts of the world with possible covid thank god we are shutting our boarders as our NHS is stretched  to breaking point without bringing any other strain in the country all i can say is i pray to god we can beat this covid and get back to some sort of normality
