From what I've read, aspirin appears to mimic a hormone released by the tomato plant when it is 'under attack'. The plant therefore assumes it is under attack and it's defence mechanisms kick in making it pre-prepared for infection. I'd guess that whether or not it will work for other plants depends on whether they respond in the same way to the defence hormone.

apparently it "beefs up the plant" gives the leaves a more "leathery feel" ( i wonder if thats what they do to the skins on the supermarket ones). one of the reasons i mentioned it was it was a mainstream UK broadcaster so i assumed it wouldn't break an barmy rules.

Well in that case it's definitely not being used as a pesticide or herbicide is it? It's clearly a feed. 

Anyway I'm not "the forum" I'm just a user and it sounds good to me.

Picked up some Dispersible Asprin 300mg tablets from Superdrug and have done the math based on the information found on the internet 250-500mg per gallon to litres and worked out that 3.5 litres to one tablet should do it.
