You don't say what part of the country you are in, but if you get some seeds NOW and chit them in a container with some damp kitchen papers in the base you can plant them straight into the ground.  But get on to it now

better be quick if youare going to use seeds but last year we cheated and went to our local garden center and bought a pack of plants ,i think  they were 12 for about £2.99

Saw small corn plants in the GC on Sunday so they must be selling 'em just now.

They also had courgettes etc and they were just two of the seed leaves with the first leaf proper starting and they wanted 1.50 for it!
