Help please. I have acquired a new plot of land. On my other shared allotment I have a thick screen of Jerusalem artichokes, so I am invisible from the road during the growing season, and it helps reduce the wind strength on an often breezy patch. I would like to transplant some of these to the new plot. When is the best time to do this?

I transplanted mine in early spring, if my memory can be relied on

And just dig down being careful not to break any roots, I suppose they are pretty hardy!

Yes, John says they can just be left in the ground until you need to dig them
