Wonder if anyone has got a word of advice?  Have been wanting to get some  J Artichokes in this autumn, but not been able to get hold of any locally.  So have bought some from a greengrocer - they're a little sad, and soft, but am going to plant them anyway.  Question:  Am I wasting my time?

Put them in damp soil right away & they'll soon freshen up.  Even a tub of spent compost until you can get them planted.

Might be worth cooking one or two to make sure you like that variety.

Hi Tallulah,

I was given some tubers by a friend at work which were delivered in her veggie box a couple of years ago.  They have filled a corner of my plot and look quite spectacular whilst in flower.  I do have a problem getting my lot to eat them though.

Not necessarily, something eats them, who also moves and replants half gnawed to death tubers, somewhere more suitable.
