French beans
« on: May 06, 2013, 07:17 »
My French beans went in three weeks ago and I started to think they were off to the compost bin as there was no sign, three days ago they started to appear and they are already two inches plus, they are not leggy at all, but I am amazed at how fast they are growing. They are outside in the cold frame which is open all day and closed slightly at night. Do they normally take so long to appear and then speed away like this.

Quite normal.

I sowed mine at the same time as the runners. The runners have been up a while, but the dwarf ones are just coming through.

Make sure you do successive sowings as their harvesting season is shorter than that of runners.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Will do some more when these leave the cold frame
