Post by: rowlandwells on March 28, 2021, 17:14
repotting some of our plants that seemed to be dying of we found quite a few little white bugs attacking the roots i think there vine weevil so we have changed the compost and treated the new compost with vine weevil  killer

Q. can I use the spent compost out the pots down the allotment on our raised beds will the birds take care of the vine weevil bugs also can the vine weevil survive in the open ground?

any info much appreciated

Vine weevil can survive in open ground, but if you spread the compost out, the birds will eat a lot of them.

What about spreading the compost over a piece of tarpaulin and letting the birds have their feast, then chucking it on the raised beds?
