Welcome to the forum , a bit more padding in the nestbox may do the trick as hens often stand up when laying and the egg suffers. :)

i agree and if they keep throwing the lining out - try adding a strip of wood to the edge of the nest box to stop them scratching it out.
makes all the difference.

Do they have a supply of oyster shell?

besides the extra bedding and the supply of oyster shell that has been mentioned do you have other heavier birds who use the same nest box? I find some of my big older girls can be quite clumsy when they plonk themselves down to lay :)
