Last year by accident I developed a cost saving method of wrapping - I ran out of proper wrapping paper so eked it out by using plain brown, the sort you get from the post office, with a band of Christmas paper round the middle. It looks so classy I have done it from the start this year!
All gift tags are last year's Christmas cards cut down, sometimes you can get two or more out of one card.

That sounds lovely. I too made all my own gift tags from last years cards & will do so again this year. I always buy my paper in the sales after Christmas. This year I have bought full rolls or wide ribbon from my craft supplier quite cheaply that looks fab on the presents.

I re-cycle old cards in this way, and don't buy many presents tat need wrapping, but I always re-use gift bags.
My ex SIL used to carefully take all the sellotape off of wrapping paper sent to her and ironed the paper to use again!
I re-use wrapping paper sometimes too if its in good condition,but not thought of the band of paper round the middle before! ;)

We have been making tags from cards since we were kids great fun with crimping scissors. MIL cuts off the tags and gives them back so you can use them again. I also keep my favourite cards and put them out again so it looks like i've got loads of friends. :lol:
We also give hampers back and reuse gift bags and boxes.

My friend Jacqui always sends me a lovely cross stitched card. I get those ones out every year, shame to leave them hidden away.
Some I have started to make into decorations.

DD wanted to make her own gift wraps and wrap in old newspaper with coloured ribbons but my parents rang to say guess what we have done it all for you ::) i should be grateful but actually i was looking forward to making pretty parcels with DD

I have two friends who always make me cards, I don't like to throw them away so I've made them into pictures with an aperture insert in a frame,I take a picture down then put the Christmas picture up.

I have lined my wardrobe doors with all my fave cards, Christmas, birthday, mothers day, anniversary, they are all there for me to see everyday.

I love turning Christmas cards, etc into labels. I think it's very therapeutic
Good tip about the brown paper :)

We've got several favourite Christmas cards which come out every year!
This year, a local artist chum has sent us one of his own creations of a famous view here, and we may well frame it as it is so good!
I heard some common sense from a local lady once, when she asked a nephew if he'd like a card costing £2.50, or a box of chocolates instead...;0)

I've gone with brown wrapping paper, old fashioned twine (not the plastic sort) and letters cut out of felt tied to the present with the twine. That way the paper can be reused if it is not too crumpled or if it is, I will put all the discarded wrapping (twine and felt letters included) in the compost bin!! :D
