"My plot is ready for inspection Sir"
« on: May 30, 2012, 23:26 »
I went to the plot on Monday morning to water as I was away for the weekend and found out the committee is inspecting/judging for best plot on Saturday... Eeeeeks... needed to get everything top top and weeded etc.. I didn't know this competition existed!!

So I took the last 3 afternoons off (the joys of working from home) and got stuck in.. Weeded, prepared more beds, planted lettuce, tomatoes, leeks, cabbage, gemsquash and baby corn. Also wood-chipped the berry bushes and removed loads of marestail.. Weeded all the beds and watered the whole plot. Even washed the pathways.

Been a huge rushed job but now is ready.. BTW i'm not into winning the trophy but it would be good.. Now my back aches..

Im sorry Gavin - you can't possibly win, your wheelie bin is 2 inches to the left of centre.

Keep the pictures coming over the growing season, there's something deeply satisfying about symmetrical beds of veg planted in uniformed and ordered rows.

That looks amazing, far better than mine!

Good luck - it does seem very early in the year to be judging.  I won't be planting out until next week at the start of June.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I heard from the previous chairman that it was always end of June...

What a wonderful looking plot, just shows how much work you have put in to it,Can't imagine what another plot must be like if your's doesn't win. Do they have a newcomers competition?I've got next week off but I don't think mine will look like that by the end of the week. :(
