Brassica bed, what to do?
« on: February 20, 2012, 15:56 »
Hi all,

Ok, my brassica bed is ready and willing but obviousely my brassicas are just a twinkle in the seed packet at the moment.
Generally my brassica seedlings don't go out for another few months so the bed will be empty.

I will be planting my onion sets, garlic, Early carrots, potatos and early peas within the next few weeks or so, so those beds will be getting used.

But what do you guys put in the brassica bed if anything to make use of the empty space early on?

Andy

Not much that will germinate in the cold and be ready quickly. Maybe radishes or some of those chinese leaves?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I'd put nothing in.

It does the soil good not to have the pants kicked out of it all the time.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
