Moss on path
« on: July 21, 2010, 20:10 »
The main path which is next to my veggie patches is covered with moss. I am reluctant to use chemicals to clear the moss because of the danger of run off into the patches. Does any one have any ideas on how I can remove safely. During the winter the path is quite slippery - the only option I can think of at present is to scrape off by hand but that would be a long hard slog.

pour a kettleful over it a bit at a time, the boiling water kills it and then it's easy to scrape off :)

Ferrous sulphate (iron) kills moss but can stain so be careful if you have a posh path.  Well worth investing in a power washer, they are much cheaper now and do the paths around my house every year in no time
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

The path is old and I am not sure it would cope with a pressure washer but will try the boiling water and see if that helps - thanks for advice everyone.
