But T & M have  got a half price sale on all veg seeds and I was thinking of ordering now for next year to save money.

Which of the following seed will keep well and provide good germination for next year Thanks

Carrot (Main Crop)
Parsnip
Peas (Main Crop)
Broad beans
Sprouts
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Leeks
Spring Onions
99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

I've ordered quite a few as well :D
IMO they would all be ok except the parsnip

I bought some cukes during the last 50% sale, theres no way Id pay the normal price.

Leave out the parsnips but everything else should keep without problems. Lately I've only been using T&M for the more exotic seeds - they're so much more expensive than everyone else, even at the sale price Id guess you'll spend more than other places.

For next year you should be OK with most of them - as mumofstig says, the parsnip may be a problem, but you should still get some germination.  More important is how and where you store the seed.  It needs to be kept cool and dry.  (If you wanted to keep it longer than a year, ideally you'd want it in a sealed container with a silica gel packet, stored in the fridge.)

That said, I grew a range of things this year with everything from brand new to 6 year old seed, some of which hadn't been stored in the best of conditions, and the only variety that totally failed to come up was Ailsa Craig.

ailsa craig.....onions or tomatoes?
I already have some onion seed by this name and  was going to sow them for next year, if yours failed I'll know not to expect too much!
Ailsa craig growing in the greenhouse quite happily, from 2 year old seed  :)

I was hoping to use all the part packets of seeds from this year. I've just used the last of the broad beans we've had for years, they are growing again now. :nowink:
Hurray finally retired
two plots now 31A and 35A

Tomatoes - but, to be fair, they were ages old, the foil packet had been opened and had been kept in a shed, so I didn't really expect too much!

Also I will not be able to spend long autumn & winter nights lay in bed going through all the seed catalogues if I buy now. Decisions decisions

Thanks to All for the replies.

Lesson then....find a big biscuit tin or tupperware box and keep all seeds in it.

Now that mine is a big box I find I don't lose it
