is it now, the right thing to do,....to cut down to ground level your raspberry canes?..does that make for better cropping next year?...i know i sould know already,....but somehow, i've NEVER DONE IT,...have jusst bought something to do it with,...am raring to go,..... :wacko:

Not an expert on raspberries so will leave for someone who knows... BUT I believe that it depends on whether they are early, mid-season or late variety....  Do you know what they are?

What type of raspberries are they?
If Summer fruiting then they crop on 1 year old canes, so do not cut down.
If Autumn fruiting then should have cropped and you can cut them down.

So back to the question: What type of raspberries are they?
