Grew squash ( uchiki kuri ) for the first time this year.  Left as long as possible on plant but picked before any frost.  Put them in u heated ghouse to cure for 5 or 6 weeks.  Then into garage to store.
Trouble is the last two have developed white mould and made some of insides mushy.   Cut out the grunge and they're fine but expected them to store better.
Any thoughts or tips?

They probably just got too cold, but they really aren't the best keepers.
A couple of weeks ago, one of mine in the brick outhouse grew a really pretty blue furry mould  so that one got thrown away. I turned the rest into a spicy ''pumpkin' soup, stored in portions in the freezer.
I still have a few Butternuts and Trombas which are still ok.

 Yes they’re the ones that don’t store so we’ll for me, I’ve got 2 squash of unknown type left from 2021 
  Keep thinking I ought to use them up, I bet there’s nothing left inside worth using!
