What is this on my gooseberry bush
« on: February 26, 2022, 07:12 »
I moved last year and inherited this gooseberry bush. I didn't get any fruit last year as the garden had been very neglected  and also I think it suffered from catapiller infestation.  Now coming to prune it I notice this on a lot of the branches ! Should I dig up and destroy?

I'm not certain, but It looks like damage from some kind of gall mite... I'd certainly dig it out, before it spreads elsewhere.

I would also avoid replanting a new gooseberry in the same place, just in case you were considering it
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Think it looks like some kind of Gall.
These are usually harmless.

You might want to try the woodland trust, they often ask for photos for identification of galls;

You can email them with photos and description of yours;
