Hi all   my toms have very bad blight its a shame as I have very big beef toms still  green how long can I leave them on the plant before they start going black, have loads of cherry tom gone black already.

I planted 30 plants this year all have blight, lucky I started them early so I have had some very nice toms already

Cheers Colin

Hi Colin.

If the plants are blighted, pick the fruit as soon as you can because it will transfer.  You will have to keep an eye on the fruit.  If it starts looking a funny brownish colour, or the skin starts to look odd, wrinkle and bubble up, bin them immediately as they are going down with blight as well.

I have before washed tomatoes from blighted plants with a campden tablet solution (used for sterilisation in wine making).  I didn't lose too many, but I have no proof it really helped or not.  Just an idea anyway  :)
