Hi,  We have recently moved and have a new veg garden. There is not a weed in sight and we wonder if weed killer has been used as prior to us being here the property was empty for 10 months.

If weed killer has been used how long will it be before we can put anything in!!!

Hmmm, it really does depend on what the chemical used was (not much use to you, I know!).

If it was glyphosate-based then you can replant immediately.  However, I'd expect to see some weed regrowth if it was just glyphosate-based.

Some chemicals say you can replant after 6 months; others might be even longer though I'm not entirely sure.

Are you sure the ground wasn't just covered up?

Maybe the previous owner was a weed-free finatic!! or its just the winter that's killed them.

When you say there are no weeds, is there not even any dead vegetation?  Seems a bit mysterious.

Could you sow something really cheap to test the water, so to speak?

Bring a chunk of the soil inside and stick a bean (or two)  in it.
