Anyone here growing Microgreens?

I've just planted some Broccoli sprouts but the packet says sprinkle on 1/2" of seed compost but it doesnt say cover then with 1/8" or anything... very strange.

Just wonderring if this was correct :)

I sow 8 trays a week. Mainly red cabbage, rocket, rainbow chard, bulls blood beet, fennel.
I fill half seed trays around two thirds with good multi purpose that has been passed through a garden sieve to remove any compaction lumps and larger pieces of bark etc, give it a good shake to evenly spread the compost around and give it one tap to settle it. Sprinkle the seed relatively thickly but evenly, then firm the seed into the compost with a board.
Water from the bottom, I think this is important as it helps draw the small seeds into the surface nicely, then put somewhere dark and warm (or cover the seed trays in the greenhouse) to emit light.
As soon as the seeds are sprouting, put Ito full light and keep moist.
Don't water from above at any stage, growing so many little plants close together, and getting them wet is perfect for fungal disease, which will wipe out whole trays in no time.

Moles seeds sell in bulk so are ideal for microgreens uses. Good prices too.

Lots of online seed sellers are now doing up microgreen packages and even have special sections in their catalogues for them. Definitely cheaper buying bulk this way.

My summers are too hot to keep growing microgreens but they're excellent for the rest of the cooler year, and are perfect for growing under mini polytunnels for winter.
