Shallot Spacing
« on: November 02, 2012, 11:06 »
I have just received my Zebrune banana shallot seeds but I cannot find anywhere that tells me how far they should be spaced. Can anyone help please?

I made myself a shallot spacer from a bit of timber. I actually wrote "shallot spacer" on it. It made me very happy  :D  It is seven inches long and I always use it

It's probably a generous spacing but I like a bit of room round them to make weeding easier

A foot between the rows or if equidistant spacing in a bed about 8ins either way works.

Talking about spacing, I have a long handled trowel. The blade is 6" long and I've cut notches on the handle at 12", 18" & 24". Measurements in between are easily gauged, so it's dig - measure with one implement.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Why is row spacing wider than between plant spacing?
