Title: rcom 20 making a strange noise!
Post by: jobson336 on April 18, 2011, 22:33
hi all,

ive got my rcom20 on with eggs in it. I hatch eggs last year and it made its fan noise but when ive got it on this time its making the fan noise but is also making a wirring noise every 20 seconds as the heater light keeps coming on and going off as does the humidity light at times.
the temperature is not changing. Its got water in it and appears to be working. Any ideas as to why it is making this noise and why the heater light keeps coming on?

I'm not sure if the RCom is the same, but if you take the lid off my incy and don't keep it level it puts the fan alignment out and it gets very noisy when you replace it - exactly like a loud whirring noise. I phoned Brinsea and they told me the fan blades were out of line because I hadn't kept the lid level when taking it off/or storing it. What they told me to do is take the lid off and give it a very gentle shake - but keep it level when doing so and then replace it. That cured the problem for mine.

It's perfectly normal for the heating lamp to blink, and also for the humidity light to blink, not so sure about the whirring noise though!

Mind you I had my Rcom20 going for about 12 weeks, in the end I didn't even hear the turning music!
