we have just got our first crop of peppers in our greenhouse , first time of growing and the peppers are small compared to supermarket peppers.. is this normal growth in this country

Not per se, but often happens. Any stress throughout growing can cause this. If it's just climate related, regular watering and feeding means, you won't have the rest like that, hopefully.

Also, variety. Different sizes of fruit.

Mine...if I get any, are miniature bell peppers. They are still not flowering though, been too cold I reckon. :(

Might also be the variety as well. I grew "mini-bell mixed" last year and got loads of fruit different colours and shapes but none bigger than a small orange.

That's true. We have in the past grown a variety called "Patio Pepper". They grew to the size of the fruits in a jar of Peppadew. :)
