Bare root Rudbeckia Goldsturm

So I've had six of the above delivered and just wondering what is best to do with them. According to the bumpf with them I should plant them out asap but it's still cold up here, frosty in the mornings but around 8C daytime which I guess isn't ideal. Is it safe enough just to pot them up individually in general compost and stick them in the coldframe then plant them out once they have developed a bit?

Pot them up now but remember that Rudbeckias do not like soggy compost as they originate from the prairies. I would use a 50/50 mix of sharp sand and compost.

I had six tiny plugs of this last spring, which I grew on in 3ins pots until May, when I planted them out.

They flowered with one stalk last autumn, and have made it through the winter Ok this year.

They did need a bit of extra water occasionally early in the summer before the deluge started.

So, plant them up, keep them in a cold frame and plant them out when they are bigger, in a couple of months
